This week I am going to focus on gaming.

Single or multiplayer?

Until about 15, 20 years ago we would only be able to play with friends if they were in the same room. But now we can play with friends from all over the world really easily thanks to a thing called internet.

Online play has been growing quite a lot, more gamers play online, more games support online (And some of those games should stick to single player). That got me wondering what is more important in a game, single player or multiplayer. Or maybe even both.

Single player has got to be my choice because I like a good story that is intense and that keeps me interested in the characters. I can think of great games that match this, and so far those are the ones I appreciate the most.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t like to play online. I love to play with some friends and that is mainly the reason why I play online.

So what about you? What do you prefer? A good single player experience or a multiplayer that keeps you coming back to the game?

That is it for this week, I hope to see you around the around the forums!

I prefer a good single player that I can keep playing over and over again. Next would be splitscreen either co-op or multi, and I really don't like playing online... I always seem to get stuck with the kids who take it way too seriously so that doesn't really matter a whole lot to me in terms of whether or not I'll buy a game.

I like a game by it's single player with a solid story, that doesn't mean that shouldn't have online, as long as it doesn't affect the single player, I like to play coop and some multiplayer.

There's a mistake on the last sentence, me thinks.

All-around for sure. I mean, I'm not going to buy a game if it has crappy single player just so I can play multiplayer and the same vice versa.

However, that being said if a game has great single player in it and I don't see myself spending much multiplayer time on it, I won't but it but I will rent it. If both look good, it's a buy.

Of course, if the game goes beyond 15-20 hours in single player, then it may be a purchase as well, but with all these less than 15 hours for campaign games, I try to be more careful.

They both definitely matter, but a crappy game is a crappy game.

Ok don't get me wrong I love playing online but it only lasts if other people are playing the same game, you can't try out pray's multiplayer cause people have moved on to other online games. That's why I prefer a good single player so i can come back to the game any time i wish to do so.

I love the sense of achievement that comes along w/ a really good single player game, especially if you had to work really hard at it. But in all honesty, the game type I prefer would be depending on the developers and what they are known for e.g. Naughty Dog, Crash bandicoot series, and UC series, for SP types. For MP types the most obvious one is IW, and the COD series, but now IMO zipper have got a fair amount of rep with MAG also.
So quite honestly, I look at the developers and the reps in either SP/MP and really don't have a preferred type.
