Warning: Opinion of a Casual listener of Rap, not a Professional!

Rap is full of senseless lyrics about money, bitches, and drugs.

And no other has or does this.

I had this same opinion for awhile myself. Back in middle school. When I was a classic rock elitist. Who thought the Beatles were lame.

See where that's going?

This whole thing is an opinion driven thing, but seeing as it's a blog I dun-have-2-giv-a-fukk nigga.

The only reason rap is full of those lyrics is because mainstream radio only wants that, no one digs deeper into an album or artists catalog and of course, you can't force someone to do that, and even if you're a psychopath who does, not everyone will get it.

Whether I know that from speculation or experience I'll let you decide.

Warning: Very Grade-school knowledge of Rap History ahead!!!

To be fair rap started out fairly fun, with the Sugarhill Gang just boasting about things like today's rappers, and it wasn't till' 'The Message' came out that people saw it could be done in a serious manner.

From there I think it's been an unfortunate pattern, for every serious rap song that hits the mainstream, at least 4 more senseless songs are on queue. Catchy as fuck? Hell yeah. Giving rap a bad name with the general populace? Unfortunately.

In the end it's all about keeping an open mind, and with that I leave some links for anyone who wants to try doing just that.

Edit: Well it was gonna be three but I don't seem to be able to do more than one... Even after I spent half an hour thinking of good examples...

Fuk you adm- I mean gooby pls.

I could write 10x what you wrote explaining how much you are wrong but I'll let you slide since you admitted you don't know anything about rap.

    Woah, cool your horses there.

Feel free to, I don't mind being proven wrong if it helps me gain a better understanding.

If rap was in anyway just about that, you'd never have anyone listening to it. There are variations of rap, From Compton thug, all the way to rich & famous. Then again, I've grown with hip-hop & as you said you only have a 'Grade School' knowledge of it.

Also, the song you linked with Kendrick Lamar is in no way about "Money, Bitches & Cars." More of his life, even goes into suicide. Then again, If you don't know I'm sure its hard to understand.

I must have worded it wrong.

The reason I included that song and a link to the lyrics on RapGenius, a site that explains the lyrics in detail, is because I want people to gain a better understanding and see past the first time listening surface. I never said that that song was an example of a 'money, bitches, and cars' song, but I didn't state clearly enough that it was the opposite.

That said, Kendrick Lamar gives some great house purchasing advice.
